A WCOOP bracelet and Supernova Elite

After all, the guy has been on PokerStars forever, has won a WCOOP bracelet, and famously beat a Team PokerStars Pro heads up in one of online poker's biggest events, the $25,000 Heads-Up Championship.

As you should be well aware by now, the World Championship of Online Poker begins in just a little more than 24 hours. One of last year's biggest success stories was that of Steven Jacobs, aka The Man Who Beat ElkY.

Now, Jacobs has achieved one of the most coveted titles in online poker. He is now a Supernova Elite.

At just 26 years old, Jacobs has already proven himself in the poker world, but is now setting out on a new path. Just a few days ago, Jacobs started law school at Fordham. Before he started class, though, he had a lot of work to do on a mission he started back in January.

"Supernova Elite was a goal I set this year because, outside of a sponsorship deal with a site, it is the best rakeback deal you can get," he said. "I am glad I hit it early enough to hit even more milestone bonuses this year."

Supernova Elite status confers on its members two big tourney buy-ins every year. With last year's big win still a not-too-distant memory, Jacobs made an appeal to PokerStars.

"Pokerstars kindly let me trade my two live tourney buy-ins for a $25,000 entry into the WCOOP heads-up event on Sept 13," he told us. "I won this event last year and hope to use my Supernova Elite reward to do it again!"

Now that Jacobs has started class again, playing poker is going to have to take a backseat to the books. While Jacobs is still looking for a big win in the WSOP or WPT, he's got more immediate plans. As important as school is to him, he's working hard to manage his priorities.

"Since I'm in school I can only really play tournaments on weekends now," Jacobs said. "The heads-up tournament, of course, is what I'm looking forward to the most. Also the WCOOP main event."
